engineering work...hmmm...

in one of the episodes of The Peak(9pm chn 8 show), zhenya had said that ship is the safest mode of transport..the first time i'm hearing this. true meh? but tv not supp to give false info. i rmbed all the cruise disasters i saw from the museums in newcastle. its history is mainly on its tyne river, just 10 or 20 yrs ago, many pirates and merchants stepped onto the shore of the tyne river to seek prostitutes. i rmbed dr ming saying the scenario is much worse than geylang. anyway they manufacture their own ships, tat explains why the fac of marine engineering is so well known in the uni of newcastle upon tyne and so many singaporeans further their studies there. the large family of sing soc.

and from lecture, erm yes haha finally studied the webcast in detail, i think i was half awake in lecture..
Catastrophic capsize of the ferry
According to the Estonia Foreign Ministry, 1,049 people were onboard the ship as it capsized in 6-foot waves. Finnish rescue services have reported that 844 people are still missing, and that about 140 have been saved from the frigid waters of the Baltic Sea. The bodies of 42 people are said to have been recovered by rescue forces. The ship went down, reportedly within 40 minutes, in an area approximately 25 miles from the Southwest coast of Finland.

Rescuers and doctors say, however, that they fear that the time has elapsed that would have allowed them to successfully resuscitate those thrown into the cold water. They say that the stricken will have died of hypothermia and exposure by the time of this report. A Coast Guard official said that the human body loses heat quickly when immersed in cold water, and that they have already recovered the bodies of "dozens" of victims who have succumbed to the cold. A Finnish Helicopter rescue pilot reported flying more than 10 hours and not finding anyone alive; his crew did recover the bodies of twenty (20) of the Estonia's deceased.

eeeeyer, thinking of the frozen waters when i was on board the ship to suomenlina, the cold wind is enuff to kill, cant imagine myself in the water. i doubt i can feel the part of my body which is immersed in water. though not exactly near estonia but still finnish waters. but anyway i've seen the pics taken by amy they all when they visited tat place.

ok so next part is on the discussion on why did the Estonia sink so fast? the faulty design and parts of the car deck, the external factors such as impact of the waves, inspcction procedures be4 the ship set off..hmm wahh i think for these cruises and planes, the safety engineers who inspect the superstructure be4 it flies or sails hold the most responsiblity..so ke lian..damn stressed lor.. and for aerospace industry i heard need 3 yrs training and the pay will be stagnant at ard 2k for these 3 yrs leh! so low...siao..

aye anyway i took a super long time to view the webcast cos of all the distractions sighz. but it's an accomplishment that i actually do it. eh but randomthots and i just invented a new command with the help of theng puay. haha baris tiga sorakan kepada ms teo. means 3 cheers for ms teo. his idea la..why cant just say in english? aye aye very sad...why ms teo leaving..i hope history dun repeat for my ci time when the nice oc stepped down and up came "handphone" who destroyed everything.=(
