Kungfu panda 2 @ imax lido

P240

The previews introducing the imax effects are much better than the actual production. The imax ultimate movie experience allows you to see more, hear more and feel more. The images are right in front of your eyes, within an arm's length. I believe the actual production are still not ready for that kind of digital effects.

The production is fantastic. From character building, story boarding and animation. With my previous experience in animation classes using maya and with wushu as my cca in jc, i think i can relate and interprete more than without the experience. Humour, including the lame ones are nicely injected.

"what is the plan?"

"plan one, save the 5" with the 5 already freed beside him.

"what's plan two?"

Plan one is better off not said. The speed at which the characters converse also add to drawing the desired response from the audience.

The fighting styles and kungfu stunts, unique to each character are jaw dropping. The teamwork among po and the 5 is also applaudable. Introduction of new characters like the peacock, the gorillas bodyguards and the wolves pack are well decided. The meaningful dialogues serve as moral of the story and the cuteness of the chibi po captured the audiences' hearts as well.

The finale fighting style using inner peace is akin to the goalkeeper in shaolin soccer. To neutralise evil and invincible forces. But the idea of the enemies being defeated by their own creations should be the best ending already. Isnt it?
