Jus got to know the earth hour is today at 830pm jus 5 min before we decides to go ilight. Would it become Light in the dark or Darkness in the light?
Anyway earlier in the morning, i was totally amazed by the uncle at the hawker centre. He has a long queue at the front of his stall. I didnt want to queue but relented after persuasion. I jus watched while i queue. Why is it that there r pple who will wait so patiently for a plate of food? Food as long as edible, and can fill the stomach, there r so many alternatives. Anyway the uncle was perspiring like mad, standing in front of the wok sizzling with oil on the stove. He is fast, not like he is taking his own sweet time, the queue remains long. Busy, he can still greet pple with smiles and jokes. He talks to the ah ma who requested for more chopped up carrot cake (not a fussy request to him at all, he gestures it to be more chopped up and smiled ) , and then asked a little boy who was holding only $2.50 in his hand, if he wants $10 or $20. He was stunned and speechless. i jus luffed. I wonder if he gets it as he looks up at me with a puzzled face. Watching how uncle adds the egg to the carrot cake and also how he lets them sizzle before flipping them. His ladle is small, not the proportionate one to the wok size. He makes small "patties" and i think he fried the cai pok first. He has another wok next to the one he is using filled with oil and dunno what he throws into, looks like cai pok la. And then he totally trusts his customers to put in the cash or to search for change in his 2 pails one for notes one for coins on the desk. One man show. Impressive.
So jus like the european countries, it is based on integrity which i really wonder how this can work. Come to think of it it isnt foreign in sg. The spize place as well, if u dont walk up to the cashier with the receipt, u can jus walk away. Can this society works like this? They r prepared to lose some cash i suppose. Even tcm here, it is up to u to pay, and how much u want to. There r jus too many reasons for pple not to pay. Some jus purely gian beng, super stingy, some genuinely forgets, some for the thrill and test the system, since they wont be coming back again, some thick skinned, some are poor, some got to rush, some .... Some are sceptical of the reasons given as well, integrity and honesty, if they are 100% there, there wont be "sceptical" and "doubtful" in the dictionary.
To the promenade. The bears arent lighted. But the sign (on the left) is, might as well switch off everything right?
Then it came back on.
The croc.
Impatient to wait for the i and you with nobody standing there. So only the heart is captured.
This is innovative. The screen has many messages scrolling through and randomly stopping for pple to take pics. I got this shot while it is scrolling, cos dun want models in the picture with the dialogue " thats a peace sign ".
Guardian angels of the gardens.
And finally our last stop jus before the event ends at 11pm. Everywhere else u hope that there r no pple standing in front of the displays, spoiling ur photos. Pple complain when some took super long to get that self acclaimed perfect shot and those hogging the displays with so many different poses that im amazed at the fact that they dun run out of poses, totally oblivious to those trying to wait for their turn to get only the displays into their backdrop, not with those random passerbys.
For this. U need pple. Those without pple are blue. But those with pple stepping on them turn colourful! Ironic last piece.
