When’s the end of starvation? -26 jan, 1800

Haha. Yes I had my first proper meal since…..? supper at abt 0100 sg time and breakfast at abt 0300 london time (so that’s 1100 sg time…I’ll take that as lunch then) on SQ flight….then waiting at heathrow, no food no water for 9 hrs. finally boarded BA and got a packet of potato chips and a glass of orange juice. Well of cos I asked for a 2nd cup. Super thirsty lor. The flight lasted only 50 min.

The worst scenario happened…argh i always have to go through some hardships…some things must happen to me one lor…not fatal but bad enuff la. Yes nobody welcomed me at Newcastle international airport. Winner! I dun haf a fan club in Newcastle. Sad case. I searched ard the airport which is luckily not big. I asked the info counter. The person be4 me was giving her a hard time and I am sorta prepared. yes she isn’t very friendly to me when I asked if there’s any welcome service from the uni, she said no. not today. Then I just stared blankly at her. Haha now I think back like quite funny. Cos I also dunno wat to do. Then she added that there are such services on other days but not today. Shocked! my only response. But I quickly said thanks and walked towards the public phone.

It says only accept 10, 20, 50p. but I kept digging out 5p. disgusted. Finally I pulled out a 20p. aiya just put la. But well done…min is 30p, and no matter how hard I tried, no 10p. didn’t want to empty the entire purse cos my palm was not big, din want coins to start dropping. Ok another 20p so well…total of 40p which is like 1.20 sing dollars..for one call! I called the international office. The lady said no record of my name in the list of those who signed up for the welcome services. Then I tried to explain that I signed up quite early and even received a confirmation email from them lor. ok she said that I’ve to take a cab to the sch and it might or might not be reimbursed. Of cos, for those who know me..haha….i’ll fight for my rights! I told her that I saved a copy of the confirmation email reply to my applic, so she said ok then most prob I’ll be reimbursed. Ok although I still haf another 10p worth of call, I had to forego it cos the stupid phone isn’t vomiting out any change for me.

I went out into the cold. It was raining. Not even drizzling. Got on a cab, the cabby very nice helped me get all my stuff into the boot. Well it might be a ‘of cos’ thingy, but I really appreciated it. No mood to take photos though the streets look nice, the colonial look. Anyway from experience when I took cab to changi airport, the pics not very clear due to motion. It took 13.8 pounds to get me to my hall.

Ok he took out my stuff for me but I had to drag everything, this time w/o the trolley at the airport down a gentle slope to the reception room. I asked a guy is the reception closed? He say yes! Then I asked is there any other person in charge whom I can look for? Haha then he went to the door and pointed out at the words. I thanked him and he left. It read 9am – 4.30pm. time now is 450pm. It looked like 730pm in sg. So it’s locked. Another winner! I pressed the button for emergency call next to the door, the lady said he’ll send someone down.

Ok so I waited. Out in the cold. The ground is wet everywhere. The stupid wind kept blowing I had to wear my hood and I looked like an Eskimo. 10 min passed, I called again to ask if there’s any form of identity I could look out for. Silence on the other line. I continued ‘are there 2 men coming down?’ ‘Oh no just a man’ was the reply. ‘how long more do I haf to wait?’ ‘they are on their way’. Ok thanks. But think pple here are very polite and at least they sounded sincere when they said ‘oh you r welcome’. Yea ended off the conversation well.

I waited somemore, trying to look for nearby shelter where I can avoid the cold. None. I was like pacing back and forth. 10 min, still nobody, so many pple passed by lor. I think I look like an idiot standing out in the cold, witnessing the sky turning dark. No light at all. Like 8pm in sg. Why nobody offered help ah. So bad rite. I mean I was with so many luggages and it’s obvious that I was stranded becos it’s past the opening hours. I called again. The person said the man is on his way and to wait means to wait. Argh! I was shocked. Wait her stupid head lor. she can try waiting and see if she’ll shiver. But I asked ‘so do I just stand outside the reception door and wait?’ ‘yes.’ No extra info given. Well done. Waiting…..waiting….i wanted to cry but think the tears are frozen. 10 min passed. To top up the condition, it drizzled. Luckily my coat was the windbreaker kind, so it’s waterproof. I was like cursing out, looking at the smoke coming out of my mouth. I used to enjoy that when I was in Taiwan and china but not now.

I called again. My voice quivered. Yes I’m really shivering from head to toe. Think the lady heard the shiver in my voice, she’s more polite. ‘the man should be there in abt 2 min.’ finally some solid info. 2min ok. Waited. 2 min passed. I gave a msn face. Wonder if the passer-bys saw. 5min…I pressed the button again. Someone called out. Cant catch the words, I turned around and saw a stout looking man with the neon vest with the word SECURITY. Maybe he caught my blank look, he asked if I’m Jennifer lin. ‘yes I am’. ‘ok you’ll stay here while I open the door from the other side’. ‘ok thanks’.i could hear the lady’s voice from the emergency call speaker..oops. think she heard my conversation with the man so she hang up and she called the man on the walkie talkie. Couldn’t really catch wat they’re saying..i only keep hearing ‘send over’.

Whoa.. this entry is just like a novel. Memoirs of me. Haha the dialogues are abt 80% accurate. I never had such good memory but the experience is just too memorable. I shall split..
